Passport/ID, booking documents, insurance and medicines stay with you – not in checked luggage.
On the first evening the cabin can still be without suitcases: plan toiletries, a change of shirt and medicines.

Daytime: comfortable shoes, layers, rain jacket by itinerary. Evening: smart casual to formal depending on cruise line.

Multi-plug (without over-length per cruise-line rules), headphones, sunscreen, travel kit for seasickness and stomach bugs.
In short
May I take a suitcase trolley?
Yes, checked plus carry-on is usual. Check bulky items and banned goods (irons, drones depending on cruise line) beforehand.
Do I need formalwear?
Depends on cruise line and itinerary. Many DE ships are relaxed smart casual – gala evenings optional.
