What does a cruise really cost?
A cheap cabin price can end expensive – if extras are missing. This overview helps with a realistic budget.

Fixed blocks before the trip
The cruise fare includes cabin, port and service fees (if not included), transfer and possibly a hotel before sailing.
For international departures, flights and transfers add on – often the largest extra item.

Typical costs onboard
Drinks packages, specialty restaurants, Wi‑Fi, spa and shops add up quickly.
Tips or service charge are often billed per night and person – read fare terms.
Don’t forget ashore
Shore excursions, taxis, tickets and souvenirs belong in the budget. Ship tours are predictable; own tours more flexible.
In short
Are drinks always extra?
No. Some fares (e.g. strongly all-inclusive concepts) cover more. Still check specialties and premium drinks.
Is last minute worth it?
Sometimes on cabin price – rarely on transfer and preferred cabin. Count total effort, not only the list price.
